How to Use Tables for added control of image and type placement.

If you have used the tables in Microsoft Word, this should be fairly easy for you. If not, we'll start at the beginning.

A table is a structure of cells that you build that holds and separates your information. Think of it as shelves that display your wares.

Below, I am going to put the information in a "table" with a 1 pixel blue-violet border.

You can find your tools for making tables in the text editor at the top right hand side of your screen.

Don't worry, you do not have to memorize their uses. When you mouse over each tool, it will tell you what it does.

We are going to start by inserting a table into a blank screen in the text editor..

1. Place your cursor where you want to insert the table.
2. Click on the Insert Table Icon

3. In the pop-up dialog box that appears, just select the appropriate values for various parameters that would define the Table that you want to create.

The various parameters available in the dialog box that would help you define your table are: Number of Rows, Number of Columns, Width of the Table, Table Alignment (Left, Right or Center), Cell Spacing, Cell Padding, Border Size, Border Color, Background Color and Vertical Alignment of Text (Top, Middle or Bottom).

Note: If you are using MOZILLA or NETSCAPE browsers, you can only enter the number of rows and columns in the pop-up dialog box.
